Soft start devices UKKZ UPP et al .

Setting the soft start
The commissioning of powerful electric drives with asynchronous motors affects the supply network, especially at the end of the power line, a voltage drop during the flow of large inrush currents leads to a voltage drop in the network, which negatively affects the operation of other equipment connected to it (computers, communications, relay protection terminals, etc.).
During start-up, the torque often reaches 150-200% of the nominal in a fraction of a second, which can lead to failure of the mechanical part of the drive. At the same time, the starting current can be 6-8 times higher than the nominal one, because of this, a voltage drop occurs in the local electrical network. The voltage drop can cause problems for other network loads, and if the voltage drop is too high, the engine itself may not start. The use of soft-start devices ensures the limitation of the rise rate and the maximum value of the inrush current from zero to the nominal value for a given time.
